Coca cola has yesterday launched a countrywide campaign
dubbed Billion Reasons to Believe in Africa which inspires people especially
the youth to have confident in themselves and their Africa continent.
Addressing the audience during the launching ceremony held
in Dar es Salaam yesterday Dimeji Olaniyan
Country Manager for Coca-Cola Tanzania
said that the two year campaign highlights positive realities of the African
continent which is endowed with numerous resources such minerals, national
park, lakes, islands, rivers and forests.
The Billion Reasons to Believe in Africa
will be supported by electronic, print and billboards advertisement in a bid to
ensure that its message is communicated across the whole country.
“Coca-Cola is passionate about Africa; we are one of the
biggest employers in Africa contributing
nearly 1 percentage of Africa GDP. We have been in the continent for long and
are entrenched in every community in which we operate,” said Olaniyan.
In Tanzania,
Coca-Cola is source of employment to the thousands of Tanzanians and
constitutes part of the major sources of revenue to the government in terms of
taxes.
“Indeed we have billion reasons to believe in our country and
continent. Our continent is rich with various resources which explain why there
has been an influx of investors in Africa in
recent years from every corner of the world,” said Special guest Former 1500m world
record holder Filbelt Bayi.

Mengi
receives Global Leadership and Humanitarian Award

Global 2000 (2010) International in coordination with
United Nations Tanzania
will be presenting the 2010 Global leadership and Humanitarian Award and the 1st
United Nations NGO Lifetime Achievement Award to Reginard Mengi on Saturday.
According to statement released by Global 2000 (2010)
International said Reginard Mengi is the 1st African to win the UN,
NGO Global Leadership and Humanitarian Award.
”it is given to individuals who have demonstrated
outstanding work over the years in the areas of Global Human Resource
Development fight against poverty, disease and hunger,” said William Morris,
Founder and Chief Executive Officer for Global 2000 (2010) International.
The Award was established in 2007 by the International NGOs
registered at the Department of Public Information (DPI) and the Economic and
Social Council (ECOSOC) of the UN.
The U.N NGO Lifetime Achievement Award was created in March
2012 and it is given to individuals who have made commitment to improve the
living standards of mankind, and have demonstrated years of work in promoting
of the UN through the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and
objectives especially in fight against poverty diseases and hunger.
UN NGO Award are
usually given once a year at the general assembly of the UN headquarter in New
York and it involves rigorous voting process by more than 10,000 UN registered
NGOs.
“Dr. Reginard Mengi a very distinguished Tanzanian and a
proud Africa is the 1st individual
in the world to be nomited and winner of this award most prestigious and
covented. This can be equated to the Nobel Peace Prize in area of
humanitarianism and philanthropy,” said Morris
This is a once in a life time occurrence for such an award
to be given outside of the New York Headquarters and is historical event to Africa.
