GOVERMENT TEA to develop its income resources BY ISAAC LONGWE THE Government urged Tanzania Education Authority Board (TEA) to make sure it develops sustainable income resources for education fund, the minister said on Thursday. This was said in Dar es Salaam during the launch of TEA new board by the Minister for Education and Vocational Training Dr. Shukuru Kawambwa on Thursday in Dar es salaam. He said TEA is a corporate body established by section 5(1) of the Education Fund Act No.8 of 2001 to manage the Education Fund, and the Fund was established by section 4(1) of the same Act, as one of the Government’s interventions to address the challenges of the education sector in the country. “The aim of the Fund is to supplement the Government efforts in financing the education sector with a view of improving quality, increasing access, and equity at all levels”, he said. He added, “The sources of funds into the Education Fund include a budgetary allocation, investments, and voluntary contributions from education stakeholders”. Further he said the board should work extra hard in designing strategies so as to come up with sustainable income resources for the education fund. Earlier TEA new board Chairman Naomi Kitunza who has been selected for the second time said the board will make sure that during “our phase we will make sure that we come up with sustainable income resources that will boost much the education fund”. She however, urged the Government to work together with the board hand in hand in order to make sustainable fund reality.
