The new local non government organization Tanzania health promotion support (THPS)  will start soon to serve health assistant to   the people of Pwani region at the 35 health facilities by providing HIV care and treatment service and PMTCT site as well as MOHSW national level support .

This was said yesterday by Chief excutive officer  of THPS Dr .Redampta Mbatia on the official launching of the THPS  which held in their head office Masaki Dr es salaam , she said the health facilities abaove will include tumbi regionala hospital ,all district hospital in pwani ,faith based private hospital ,selecetede health centre and dispensary with the goal to scale up to kagera ,kigoma ,lindi Zanzibar and beyond as opportunities arise in the near feature.


“THPS is local entity that will continue to implement PEPFAR supported HIV prevention care and treatment programs currently being supported by international centere for AIDS Care and treatment program(ICAP) with the aim of enhancing local ownership and ensure sustainability of the program without compromising quality service “Said DR Mbatia .


On his speaching of Dr Haji Mponda which were represented by Donald Mbando said THPS is commited to ensure that health system challenges are adequately addressed to allow provision of high quality health service beyond HIV/AIDS care treatment which is continuation of the PEPFAR funded broader  US government HIV/AIDS initiatives implemented through CDC Tanzania .

He said in the light of celebrating achievement in reducing the prevalence rate we still have a number of challenges which need to be addressed such as HIV/AIDS related stigma ,poor access to care ,treatment and prevention service  low retention rates of patients in care and treatment ,poor infrastructure and numbere of other health releted problem .

“we want to achieve more such as reaching to eliminate MTCT, reduction TB AND HIV incidence by 50% in 2015 but all these cannot be achieved if we do not  come up with concerted efforts to work in partnerships ,extend our reach to the magnilsed populations and improve our internal capacities to deal with these challenges ”  he said.

He challenges ceo of THPS by need them to work close to the MOHSW and other Ministries so as to contribute to the improvement of quality of life of Tanzanians and work together with all other players on the ground so that to make change which we need.
