Government has assured that the incensement of power price

The Government has assured that the incensement of power price is unavoidable issue due to the production cost.

Speaking during the Power sector Planning, Procurement and Contracting held in Dar es Salaam yesterday the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Adam Malima said the price must rise because without it the sector will fail to expand.

“The power price to remain at zero incensement is not possible because the government will loose the capability of compensated the subsides and the Private sector will fail to get in as we create difficult environment for them, so the price must increase due to price inflation.” said Malima

He said that the expansion of power sector depend on the power price incensement, also the other sector will not expand without the expansion of power sector.

“What the power stakeholders supposed to do is to reach the conclusion of at what percentage the power supposed to raise up for example supposed to raise for 80 or 70 and not to demand the zero incensement which was not possible.” added Malima

He said that what they have decided was to raise the power price to the big companies and hotel only, and the small community will not be affected by the price considering with the milling machine.

We should create friendly environment for the private sector to invest into power sector because the increase of power price will lead to investment of many private sector and will reduce the power crisis problem because the power generating cost was the main obstacle for them.

Malima said they aim to remove the beuracrasy system in the sector, and being transparency.

“Transparency is important because create an even playing field for every one which likelihood the chance that the best option will win.”

“I would be the first to admit that the Tanzania Electronics Sector is not perfect but I assure that the Ministry is dedicated to finding ways to improve outcomes” Malima commented

Speaking during the event the Energy and Water Regulatory Authority Director Genera Haruna Masebu said the aim of work shop was to discuss ways to improve power sectors Planning, Procurement and Contracting in Tanzania.

“Approving and the initiating of the first procurement and reviewing power purchase agreement are less well understood, at this stage EWURA aim to have draft guideline complete by early 2012..” said Haruna

Haruna said currently there is contradiction of Procurement, planning and Contract management as we aim to get6 the clarification.

He said that the clarification will enable to bring openness to the power stakeholders when they want one of three services as they will no whom one to meet first.

EU DONATES 97 BILLION TO SUPPORT TANZANIA BUDGET

The European Union (EU) has disbursed through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Euro 48 million (around Tshs. 97 billion) to support Tanzania's 2011/12 budget under the General Budget Support (GBS) facility.

On his press Release to media Tom Vens, Head of Section Political, Press and Information Delegation of the EU state that These funds are intended to help Tanzania to reduce poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The EU also has informed the Government of the satisfactory conclusion of the General Budget Support annual review, which promises well for the continuation of the important support to the budget of Tanzania, also for the years 2012 and 2013.Twelve of Tanzania’s Development Partners (DPs) including the EU, which is the current GBS Chair, have committed 453 million dollars (USD) to support the Government’s 2011/12 budget.

The EU is supporting the government’s poverty reduction strategy- MKUKUTA, and participates with other donors in the Joint Assistance Strategy for Tanzania. The main focus of EU development programmes has been to assist the government’s poverty reduction strategy,mostly through budget support, roads, water, legal and judicial reform, health and education.

The current development cycle (2008–13) allocates Euro 555 million to Tanzania. Most of this (Euro 305 million) is provided as general budget support for the country’s poverty reductionprogramme.

A further Euro 139 million is directed at sector budget support in the road sector

and Euro 55.5 million has been reserved for trade and regional integration.

The EU is supporting Tanzania in its efforts to promote regional integration, particularly in the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community.

The EU is negotiating a new Economic Partnership Agreement with countries in the region a comprehensive trade agreement to strengthen the integration process.

The new local non government organization Tanzania health promotion support (THPS)  will start soon to serve health assistant to   the people of Pwani region at the 35 health facilities by providing HIV care and treatment service and PMTCT site as well as MOHSW national level support .

This was said yesterday by Chief excutive officer  of THPS Dr .Redampta Mbatia on the official launching of the THPS  which held in their head office Masaki Dr es salaam , she said the health facilities abaove will include tumbi regionala hospital ,all district hospital in pwani ,faith based private hospital ,selecetede health centre and dispensary with the goal to scale up to kagera ,kigoma ,lindi Zanzibar and beyond as opportunities arise in the near feature.

“THPS is local entity that will continue to implement PEPFAR supported HIV prevention care and treatment programs currently being supported by international centere for AIDS Care and treatment program(ICAP) with the aim of enhancing local ownership and ensure sustainability of the program without compromising quality service “Said DR Mbatia .

On his speaching of Dr Haji Mponda which were represented by Donald Mbando said THPS is commited to ensure that health system challenges are adequately addressed to allow provision of high quality health service beyond HIV/AIDS care treatment which is continuation of the PEPFAR funded broader  US government HIV/AIDS initiatives implemented through CDC Tanzania .

He said in the light of celebrating achievement in reducing the prevalence rate we still have a number of challenges which need to be addressed such as HIV/AIDS related stigma ,poor access to care ,treatment and prevention service  low retention rates of patients in care and treatment ,poor infrastructure and numbere of other health releted problem .

“we want to achieve more such as reaching to eliminate MTCT, reduction TB AND HIV incidence by 50% in 2015 but all these cannot be achieved if we do not  come up with concerted efforts to work in partnerships ,extend our reach to the magnilsed populations and improve our internal capacities to deal with these challenges ”  he said.

He challenges ceo of THPS by need them to work close to the MOHSW and other Ministries so as to contribute to the improvement of quality of life of Tanzanians and work together with all other players on the ground so that to make change which we need.

BAADA YA MKUTANO WA JK NA VIONGOZI WA CHADEMA

Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, Mheshimiwa Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete na ujumbe wa Serikali yake leo, Jumapili, Novemba 27, 2011, amekutana na kufanya mazungumzo na ujumbe wa Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA).

Katika mazungumzo hayo yaliyofanyika Ikulu, Dar Es Salaam, yamefanyika katika mazingira ya urafiki na ujumbe wa CHADEMA umewasilisha mapendekezo yake kuhusu mchakato wa kuandika Katiba Mpya ya Tanzania. Serikali imepokea mapendekezo hayo.

Hata hivyo, pande zote mbili zimekubaliana kukutana tena asubuhi ya kesho, Jumatatu, Novemba 28, 2011, ili kuipa nafasi Serikali iweze kutafakari mapendekezo hayo.

Lakini pande hizo mbili zimekubaliana kuwa Katiba ya sasa ni Katiba nzuri iliyolilea Taifa kwa miaka 50 iliyopita kwa sababu ni Katiba ya sasa iliyoliwezesha Taifa la Tanzania kuwa na amani,  utulivu na kupata maendeleo makubwa ambayo nchi yetu imepata mpaka sasa.

Pia pande zote mbili zimekubaliana kuhusu umuhimu wa kutunga Katibu Mpya kama Mheshimiwa Rais Kikwete alivyoliahidi taifa wakati wa salamu zake za mwaka mpya Desemba 31, mwaka jana, 2010, Katiba ambayo italiongoza Taifa la Tanzania kwa miaka mingine 50 ijayo.

Katika mazungumzo hayo, Mheshimiwa Rais aliwahakikishia wajumbe hao wa CHADEMA wakiongozwa na Mwenyekiti wa chama hicho, Mheshimiwa Freeman Mbowe kuwa ni dhamira yake na ya Serikali yake kuhakikisha kuwa Tanzania inapata Katiba mpya.

Katika mkutano huo, pande zote mbili zimekubaliana kuwa ni jambo muhimu sana kwa mchakato mzima wa kutungwa kwa Katiba Mpya kuendeshwa kwa namna ya kulinda na kudumisha tunu za taifa za amani, utulivu na umoja wa kitaifa.

Aidha, pande zote mbili zimekubaliana kuwa mchakato huo uendeshwe kwa kuzingatia misingi ya mambo mengine muhimu kwa taifa la Tanzania kama vile kujiepusha na vitendo vya uvunjifu wa amani, kuligawa Taifa kwa misingi ya udini na ukabila ama kutugawa kwa misingi ya maeneo.
